How many of us really know offhand what are the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs) or the issues they address? Most likely, the answers will be that it is about climate change and tackling pollution. Well the SDGs – and there are 17 of them – are more than that and cover a wide range of issues that directly impact our daily lives.

For the Digest Literature this month, let’s brush up our knowledge on these UN goals shall we? And proceed to discover how we can each play our part as well as in investing for the common good.

Let’s kick off with this short YouTube primer on what the SDGs are which include eradication of poverty and hunger, fair employment practices, gender equality and education among others. If you want to delve deeper, you can visit the UN website for more details and stories about how individuals, communities, governments and businesses are making efforts to realise these varied goals. There is also this explainer if you want to educate your kids.
