LEE Wai Fai
Wai Fai is Chairman of UOBAM and the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of UOBAM's parent, United Overseas Bank (UOB). He leads the banking group's financial and management accounting, investor relations and corporate services divisions.
Wai Fai joined UOB in 1989 and has held senior positions in the UOB group, including being head of international branches and regional banking subsidiaries, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of UOB Radanasin Bank Public Company Limited, Head of Finance as well as Head of Policy and Planning of UOB.
He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration degree in Banking and Finance from the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University. Wai Fai has more than 25 years of experience in the banking sector.
Boon Kiat has over 23 years of investment management experience. He joined UOB Asset Management (UOBAM) in 1994 from the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), as a portfolio manager managing Singapore, and subsequently Asia Pacific and Global equity portfolios. He then headed the International Equities and Global Technology teams. In 2004, Boon Kiat was appointed as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of UOBAM, a position he held till his promotion to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2011. As CEO, Boon Kiat is responsible for growing UOBAM into a leading regional player in the asset management industry, with the aim of providing clients excellence in investment performance and service.
Over the years, under his strong leadership, UOBAM has received significant industry recognition in Singapore and the region. Most recently, UOBAM Singapore garnered the "Best Asset Management Firm Singapore 2018" and "Best Asia Fixed Income House Singapore 2018" from International Finance Awards and the prestigious "Best Fixed Income Fund House" from 2017 Morningstar Awards as well as "Best of the Best Performance 2018" for Asian Bonds (10 years) for the third time from Asia Asset Management. Concurrently in 2018, UOBAM (Thailand) was awarded "Best for Asset Management" at the Euromoney Awards 2018.
Most notably, Boon Kiat was recognised as "CEO of the Year in Asia" for two consecutive years by Asia Asset Management in its "Best of the Best Regional Awards 2015" and "Best of the Best Regional Awards 2014" for his outstanding contributions to UOBAM. He was also conferred the "IBF Fellow" title by the Institute of Banking and Finance in 2015.
Boon Kiat has also been instrumental in developing and designing UOBAM's product strategies for the retail and institutional markets, as well as spearheading UOBAM's expansion locally and into the regional markets in Asia. In 2017, UOB Alternative Investment Management Pte. Ltd was added to UOBAM Group to expand the range of alternative investment offerings for clients. In the same year, UOBAM set up UOB Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd in Malaysia to support Shariah fund management activities. He currently sits on the boards of several UOBAM subsidiaries and affiliates, including UOB Asset Management (Singapore), UOB Asset Management (Thailand), UOB Asset Management (Malaysia) (as Alternate Director), UOB Asset Management (Taiwan), Ping An UOB Fund Management Company Limited and UOB-SM Asset Management Pte Ltd. He has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS) since 2006 and was appointed as IMAS' treasurer in 2013.
Boon Kiat graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (First Class Honours) degree from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder. He attended the Investment Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 2004 and the Mastering Alternative Investments programme at Insead University in 2006.
John joined UOBAM in 2001 as a portfolio manager covering Global Financial Institutions. In January 2005, he was appointed to Head of International Equities team and assumed responsibility for the investment team managing the firm's Global Equity portfolios. In September 2005, he was promoted to Deputy Chief Investment Officer. While in this role, he worked closely with the firm's CIO to help define and inculcate the firm's equity investment philosophy, style and processes.
In September 2011, he was promoted to Chief Investment Officer – Equities & Multi-Asset. In March 2018, John assumed the role of Chief Investment Officer – Multi-Asset. In this role his focus is on developing of the Multi-Asset team. Prior to joining UOBAM, John was an Associate Director with Salomon Smith Barney in Singapore, where he was a member of the Asian Financial Institutions equity research team. Prior to that, he worked for UBS Securities (Singapore) and MeesPierson Securities (Hong Kong) where he had similar responsibilities.
John graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from the University of Vermont in 1988.
CHONG Jiun Yeh
Jiun Yeh joined UOBAM in March 2008 and has oversight for the teams managing the Asian equities and various fixed income mandates. The coverage of the Fixed Income teams spans a wide spectrum, comprising G10 Government Securities, Global Corporate Credits, Global Emerging Markets, Asia and Singapore Bonds. In addition, he oversees the Asian Equities team investing in Asia-Pacific equity markets.
Prior to joining UOBAM, Jiun Yeh was the Managing Director (Fund Management) and Co-Head of Portfolio Management for ST Asset Management (STAM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Temasek Holdings. Before that, he was Head of Fixed Income and Currencies at OUB Asset Management. He has experience in managing equities, fixed income and structured finance portfolios, including emerging market local currencies debts, G7 FX overlay as well as Asia-Pacific equities.
Jiun Yeh graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Estate Management) (Second Upper Honours) degree from the National University of Singapore.
As Chief Operating Officer, Wijaya is responsible for the overall functions of Middle Office and Governance, System and Data Management as well as the Operations of UOBAM.
He joined UOBAM in August 2015 and has more than 19 years of extensive operational experience, principally in investment custody operations, fund accounting and new business consulting. Prior to joining UOBAM, he was Head of Operations with Northern Trust Company.
Wijaya was educated at Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Faizal leads the business development initiatives of the firm, heading the Retail and Institutional Sales teams, and strategising on Product Development and Marketing. His responsibilities include the creation of products and services that meet the needs of retail and institutional investors across the region.
Faizal is a UOBAM stalwart, having joined the business development team in 1996 and rising through the ranks to head regional business development in 2007. He was instrumental in initiating and strategising the expansion of UOBAM into the regional Asia markets with the establishment of UOBAM (Brunei), UOBAM (Japan), OSK-UOB Islamic Fund Management Berhad joint venture in Malaysia and the formation of strategic alliances with major third-party fund managers.
He is currently one of the directors of UOBAM (Japan) and sits on the board of UOBAM (Brunei). In Singapore, he is a member of the UOBAM Management Committee and is also a voting member of the Regional Investment, Risk and Product Committees.
Previously, Faizal represented UOBAM as the alternate director to UOBAM Managing Director on the board of OSK/UOB Islamic Fund Management Berhad in Malaysia. From July 2008 to February 2010 he was also appointed as a board director of UOB Philippines. In January 2011, he was appointed Head of Business Development and in January 2015 he assumed the role of Chief Marketing Officer.
Prior to joining UOBAM, Faizal worked with Citibank in the Singapore and regional office, which oversaw the Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan markets, contributing in the areas of client service and product development for the unit trusts/mutual funds business.
He graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Economics from the National University of Singapore.
LOW Han Seng
Han Seng is the Chief Executive Officer of UOB Alternative Investment Management (UOBAIM), which was acquired by UOBAM in 2017. UOBAIM offers investors with specialised access to alternative investment opportunities with a focus on Asia.
Han Seng's team is responsible for managing the firm's alternative investment fund-of-funds and advisory business. Since making its first investment in an Asian venture capital fund in 1988, the firm has made and advised on commitments to more than 80 alternative investment vehicles. The team's aim is to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns to investors through alternative investment solutions ranging from hedge funds to private equity. Its local understanding of the capital markets and ability to leverage on UOB Group's business network relationships give it a significant edge in its due diligence and active portfolio monitoring.
With experience in various investment management functions, Han Seng has been responsible for the Bank's proprietary investment in private equity and hedge funds since 1998. He has been Secretary of UOB's Investment Committee for more than 10 years.
Han Seng started his career at Hewlett Packard Singapore (Sales) as a Systems Engineer and later joined Bain & Company (Asia) Inc. as a consultant serving clients in Southeast Asia. He has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Nanyang Technological Institute, Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in Fontainebleau, France.
As the CEO of UOB-SM Asset Management (a joint venture established between UOBAM and Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management (SMAM) in 2013), Reiji is responsible for spearheading the firm's regional expansion efforts and business development opportunities. During his tenor, UOB-SM Asset Management has garnered several awards for its investment excellence.
Reiji brings more than 20 years of experience in portfolio management and investment advisory roles to the firm. Formerly, Reiji was Executive Director and Senior Adviser to SMAM, where he strengthened the team’s expertise in both institutional and retail mandates. He has also worked at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd.
Reiji graduated with a degree from the Faculty of Law in Waseda University.
